Three men who were waiting at the Long Layover — not for the crew, but for Zane. The party never got their names.

What the crew knows

• Hard, patient types who read as spacers with an old score to settle. They’d made Zane’s face from somewhere in a past he doesn’t care to remember — though Zane couldn’t place a single one of them.
• They’d smuggled sidearms past the highport’s weapons check — no small trick on a Class-A port.
• Word was they’d also caught wind that the crew had just come into money.
• The crew never stayed to finish it: under cover of Kael’s mist and a staged birthday song, they fled the cantina clean and left the three behind for Flammarion security to sort out.
• Unfinished business — they’re still out there, and they know the crew’s faces now.
