The Imperial Scout Service man who set the whole job in motion. The crew met him at the IISS Detached Duty office on Flammarion Highport, where he handed over the retrieval contract for their stranded Far Trader and the means to go and get it.

What the crew knows

• Bureaucratic and a little harried — treats the whole thing as routine paperwork and doesn’t pry into anyone’s business.
• Paid Cr6,000 up front, plus refuelling vouchers and middle-passage tickets aboard the Autumn Gold to Walston, with more promised once the ship flies again.
• Provided practical kit for the recovery — replacement panels and a portable diagnostic unit for the ship.
• Undersold the ship’s condition as “minor neglect” — which the crew may come to have opinions about once they actually see it.
